Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, LUCKY LUCKY bounded in the air. On jumping, from an outside gate, LATIN DANCER was immediately steadied, shifted across behind other runners to take up a position towards the rear but on the rail. H K Yim (SUPER BOLD RACER) was found guilty of careless riding [Rule 100(1)]. The careless riding being that in the run to the first turn he allowed his mount which was racing tight outside SOLO to shift in. As a consequence of this, severe crowding occurred. The main sufferers were SOLO which was severely checked and HAPPY ECLIPSE which was racing tight outside BELOVED PARTNER checked. H K Yim was suspended from riding in races for the period Thursday 7 February 2002 until Thursday 28 February 2002 on which day he may resume race riding (5 Hong Kong race days). Near the 1000 Metres, KEY LARGO was checked when crowded between LUCKY LUCKY and SPEEDY CHAMPION which got its head up and raced ungenerously for some time just inside the hindquarters of HEAVENLY WIND which had a tendency to get its head on the side and hang in away from PERFECT SPORT. In view of all the circumstances, it was decided no action be taken. When KEY LARGO checked at about the 1000 Metres, METRO FLYER was steadied and shifted out. Near the 800 Metres, HAPPY ECLIPSE got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER BOLD RACER which was eased when LUCKY LUCKY steadied to avoid HEAVENLY WIND (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not clear. O Doleuze was reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care. Near the 600 Metres, LATIN DANCER struck the running rail and became unbalanced. Just before straightening, LATIN DANCER, which was racing tight inside SUPER BOLD RACER, became momentarily unbalanced and again struck the running rail. After the 500 Metres, HAPPY ECLIPSE shifted out from behind SPEEDY CHAMPION in an endeavour to improve. This inconvenienced KEY LARGO and obliged that horse to race wider. After the 200 Metres, LUCKY LUCKY shifted in abruptly.
