Racing Incident Report
Whilst parading before the race, CRYSTAL STEEL kicked out behind and made contact with a rail. After arriving at the Start, CRYSTAL STEEL was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations he said in his opinion CRYSTAL STEEL was suitable to race. When the gates opened, A RUN OF LUCK bounded in the air and lost a lot of ground. In the early stages, CRYSTAL STEEL raced very greenly with its head up. Approaching the 700 Metres, DANRIVA was checked rather severely when crowded between A RUN OF LUCK and SALUT BEAUTE which hung out badly on the turn. About the 600 Metres, TRAVELLER STAR became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly to avoid FORTUNE MAPLE. W C Marwing (DEVON ELITE) said he had been instructed today to try and ride the horse with cover. He went on to say DEVON ELITE left the gates awkwardly and lost some ground, but bearing in mind the instructions he was given today this was of little or no significance. He said he had to ride along to keep up in the early stages, but mid-race was able to give DEVON ELITE something of a breather and he also had been advised to be careful with the horse on the turns as it has had a tendency to run off. He said although the horse closed the race off satisfactorily, the race was run much too quickly for DEVON ELITE today. HOKKIEN ALL was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
