Racing Incident Report
Whilst being paraded behind the barrier, THE KING OF CLOYNE was kicked by another runner. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations the Veterinary Surgeon said THE KING OF CLOYNE was suitable to race. SMART WINNER jumped awkwardly, shifted out and brushed WISHMASTER which also left the gates awkwardly, after this WISHMASTER shifted out across the heels of MERRY MERRY. On jumping, SMARTLORD threw its head about. DASHING WINNER also came out awkwardly, threw its had about and for some distance after the start raced tight between KEV BUSHIDO and SMARTLORD. About the 1000 Metres, ALL THE BEST (Apprentice S K Sit) was steadied to avoid MERRY MERRY (Apprentice M W Leung) which shifted in when not clear. To compound the matter, MERRY MERRY was being eased as it was shifting in. No direct action was taken, but Apprentice M W Leung was told he must exercise far more care when shifting ground. At the conclusion of the inquiry, Apprentice S K Sit was reprimanded and told he will be expected to provide more straightforward evidence than he did on this occasion. About the 800 Metres, DASHING WINNER got its head up and shifted out abruptly when close to the heels of HANDBAG DRAGON. Again about the 600 Metres, DASHING WINNER got its head up and shifted out when close to the heels of TRUST ME. About the 300 Metres, THE KING OF CLOYNE was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running inside DR MORE. About 50 Metres out, THE KING OF CLOYNE and DR MORE brushed. Then near the winning post, THE KING OF CLOYNE was shifted out abruptly from behind DASHING WINNER. Also near the winning post, O Doleuze (DASHING WINNER) dropped his whip. Whilst the Stewards considered the riding of M Kinane (WISHMASTER) in the run to the line did not affect the horse's finishing position and accordingly a breach of Rule 100(2) did not occur, they did however advise M Kinane he must ride all mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race whenever possible.
