Racing Incident Report

After being presented in the Parade Ring, PRIDE AND FORTUNE had its near side front plate refitted. After runners had been boxed, it was noted that a dog had strayed onto the track at about the 800 Metres. The Stewards directed the Starter not to release the field until the track had been cleared. As a consequence of this, the race was late starting. MANSFIELD STAR was difficult to load into its stall and was slowly away. Before racing again, MANSFIELD STAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. When the gates opened, ELLEN'S WON stood flat-footed and refused to take part in the race. Mr I W Allan, trainer of the horse, requested some time to consider the horse's future. This request was acceded to and the final decision will not be made until Mr Allan and the connections of the horse have discussed the matter. TOUCH DOWN left the gates awkwardly, shifted out and bumped GOLDCHIN BEST. On jumping, FOREVER GOLD and PEARL AND GOLD bumped. For some distance near the 900 Metres, WISHES was unbalanced when racing close to the heels of DOUBLE HAPPINESS. Near the 500 Metres, PEARL AND GOLD shifted out when momentarily unbalanced close to the heels of TOUCH DOWN. Just on straightening, COSMO STAR and WISHES came together.
