Racing Incident Report

VICTORY MOUNT was withdrawn on 12.3.02 on veterinary grounds (lame off hind leg) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter RESOURCEFUL PRINCE (M Cahill). Before being permitted to race again, VICTORY MOUNT will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. RESOURCEFUL PRINCE was subsequently withdrawn on raceday afternoon on veterinary grounds (colic). MONEY KING was slowly away. GOLDEN DUKE jumped awkwardly. When the gates opened, HIDDEN TALENT bounded in the air and as a consequence of this lost a lot of ground. On straightening, AUTHORISED shifted out to find running and try to go forward, in doing so brushed GOLDEN DUKE. When asked about the disappointing run of FANTASTICO, W C Marwing said the horse at its previous start travelled in a forward position and then gave some ground over the concluding stages. He said tonight it was anticipated the horse would improve from that run and therefore it was considered FANTASTICO would run well tonight. He said he had hoped to find a position somewhere towards the front with cover, turning out of the Straight the first time was not able to get in, was obliged to race somewhat wide without any cover, but before entering the Back Straight FANTASTICO was not travelling as he thought it should, at no stage in tonight's race was comfortable and was a beaten horse a long way out. FANTASTICO was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
