Racing Incident Report

NOT GUILTY left the gates awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and bumped SPEEDY FORWARD. LUCK AND FORTUNE left the gates awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of CRYSTAL STEEL which then shifted in after making contact with OCEAN CHANNEL. As a consequence of this, LUCK AND FORTUNE was taken onto the hindquarters of HONEST STEED and steadied. Approaching the 200 Metres, OCEAN CHANNEL was steadied when crowded between CALVADOS and MEDIC HERO which shifted in away from PERFECT MOMENT. No action was taken. K H Ting (UNIVERSAL GLORY) explained before the race the trainer had told him the horse at recent starts had been ridden back with little success, tonight from an inside gate he was instructed to ride the horse along hard in the early stages and ensured to take up a position towards the front. THE ONLY HERO was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said he noted a small amount of blood in the mouth of THE ONLY HERO. An examination of the horse revealed it sustained a laceration to the lip and he also said the horse had sustained a laceration to the area of its near hind cannon. Following the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said OCEAN CHANNEL was lame in its off side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, OCEAN CHANNEL will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination.
