Racing Incident Report
Approaching the 400 Metres, WILFUL FLIGHT was steadied when disappointed for running inside WONDERFUL WIN. Y T Cheng (GOLDEN PROMISE) explained from a good draw it had been the intention to lead, but it was decided that the horse should not be pushed hard to lead and if runners crossed from the outside, he was to allow that to take place. He said GOLDEN PROMISE left the gates well, he allowed the horse to run along at its own speed and settle into a position where it was comfortable but forward of midfield. He pointed out GOLDEN PROMISE was having its third run from a break this evening, it does appear to have lost some of its early pace and accordingly was not able to lead as he thought it would this evening. The explanations submitted by Y T Cheng were accepted. GOLDEN PROMISE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. H K Yim (POT BLACK), which finished unplaced, was fined $2,000 for failing to present himself to scale after the race.
