Racing Incident Report

On jumping, OLIVE OR TWIST and SMART WIN bumped. Just as the gates opened, GET IT EASY went down behind, left the gates awkwardly and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. CAMARADERIE left the gates very awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 600 Metres, OLIVE OR TWIST, which was inclined to be laying in, shifted ground and brushed the running rail. About the 500 Metres, MONEY KING, which was giving ground badly, became unbalanced and shifted away from LOK WAH TREASURE. In the Straight, CHUNG ON TREASURE raced very greenly, hung in and at about the 200 Metres was bumped by SMART WIN which shifted out. Apprentice M W Leung (SWEETIE) said his intention had always been to travel in front if possible, but with SPEEDY CHAMPION racing keenly on his outside, SWEETIE over-raced, went much harder in front than he would have wished. He said he considered endeavouring to get SWEETIE to travel behind SPEEDY CHAMPION, but was aware that horse was pulling hard on his outside and therefore realized he would not have been able to get SWEETIE into a position behind SPEEDY CHAMPION. Because of the manner in which SWEETIE travelled in front, the horse gave a lot of ground over the concluding stages. SWEETIE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, MONEY KING was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He was unable to find any abnormalities. The performance of the horse was considered unacceptable. Before MONEY KING can race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination.
