Racing Incident Report
SUPER COMBINATION was withdrawn on 24.5.02 on veterinary grounds
(sore near fore fetlock) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter EASY STAR
(Apprentice K K Lai). Before being allowed to race again, SUPER
COMBINATION will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
Whilst being saddled, PLEASANT SUCCESS kicked out behind and on several
occasions made contact with the back wall. After being saddled, the horse was
trotted up, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and following the necessary
consultations it was decided PLEASANT SUCCESS was suitable to race. JUST
VICTORY and GLORIOUS VICTORY were slowly away. About the 800 Metres,
GLORIOUS VICTORY was steadied when momentarily crowded by SUPER
BOLD RACER. JUST VICTORY, which was following, was hampered as a
consequence. About the 600 Metres, PRIME VAIN (S Dye), which was pulling,
got its head up when being checked to avoid the heels of GOOD BROTHER which
was momentarily crowded by PLEASANT SUCCESS. After being steadied from
the heels of GOOD BROTHER, PRIME VAIN shifted abruptly to its outside. As a
consequence of this, ALWAYS ZIETEN was inconvenienced and obliged to race
wider and RIVER OF CHINA which was on its outside was hampered and obliged
to cover a lot more ground. In view of all the circumstances, the Stewards decided it
would be inappropriate to proceed with a charge of carelessness against S Dye,
however, he was reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he must exercise far
more care when shifting ground. In the Straight, PLEASANT SUCCESS hung in.
PRIME VAIN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
