Racing Incident Report

SONGS OF PRAISE left the gates very slowly and awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GOLDEN GONG. As a consequence of this, SONGS OF PRAISE got well back. On jumping, PRODIGY and GOOD BOY bumped. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, PLATINUM EXPRESS was held up behind ME AND YOU and on the inside of CUPID. Then just after straightening, PLATINUM EXPRESS was shifted in to find running. D Dunn (SONGS OF PRAISE) explained the intention had been to if possible tonight lead or at worst race right on the speed. He said however as a result of the incident at the start, he settled down at the rear, SONGS OF PRAISE did not travel well behind other runners, in the Straight when shifted to the clear did make some ground, but over about the last 200 Metres was very much one paced. He concluded by saying had the horse left the gates cleanly as was expected, it might very well have been prominent at the end of the race. G Mossé (WAIALAE WIN) was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. The Stewards were satisfied that the riding of G Mossé to the finish had not affected the result. G Mossé was however told in slightly different circumstances he may have found himself in breach of the Rule. CHIVAS LAD and WAIALAE WIN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported THISTLEJADE was bleeding from both nostrils.
