Racing Incident Report

NEW FACE was withdrawn on 6.12.02 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HAPPY CHAMP (H K Yim). Before NEW FACE can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. On jumping, HAPPY CHAMP was crowded for room between PLANET RULER and SALUZI, both of which shifted ground. On jumping from an outside gate, LUCKY FRIENDS was steadied and taken to a rearward position but closer to the rail. On several occasions near the 1200 Metres, SALUZI shifted out away from the hindquarters of BOLD VISION. This caused inconvenience to MILLENNIUM SUPREME and obliged that horse to race wider. After the 600 Metres, NEVER SAY NEVER got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of ON THE TEE. In the early part of the Straight, MILLENNIUM SUPREME and SALUZI raced tight. About the 300 Metres, LUCKY FRIENDS, which was racing somewhat greenly, got its head up when being shifted out to avoid FANTASTIC HORSE. G Mossé (PLANET RULER) said he enjoyed a good run in the race, near the 400 Metres he was able to shift into the clear and he thought the way in which PLANET RULER had travelled it would close off strongly and go on to win. He said however when put under pressure PLANET RULER did not respond and in the Straight was most disappointing. He was not able to put forward any real reason for the run. PLANET RULER, BOLD VISION and HAPPY CHAMP were sent for sampling.
