Racing Incident Report
The explanation tendered by Trainer K C Lo for having presented GREEN VACATION in the Parade Ring without a shadow roll, part of the horse's declared gear, was accepted. SEREVI began very awkwardly, shortly after the start got its head up and lost significant ground. WOODSON began awkwardly, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of INDY'S GEM. A Suborics (MR BASKETBALL) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after passing the winning post on the first occasion he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of EVER GLORY, causing that horse to lose its rightful running, be steadied and shift out when not clear of GLORY HERO which as a result was checked. A Suborics was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 26 January 2003 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of this suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley meeting next Wednesday 15 January 2003. At the 1400 Metres, PLATINUM EXPRESS was steadied when crowded for room between PERFETTO which shifted out and MR BASKETBALL which got its head on the side and shifted in momentarily. In the circumstances, no action was taken. The performance of WOODSON, which gave ground from the 700 Metres and tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHIVAS LAD and PERFETTO were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 13 Jan. 2003) :
The Veterinary Surgeon, Dr K H Lam, today reported when he examined PLATINUM EXPRESS at the stables of Trainer D Cruz yesterday, he noted the horse had abrasions with mild swelling over the left hock, however, was not lame.
