Racing Incident Report
LUCKY TWINS was slow to begin and then tailed out. LUCKY TWINS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. The performance of LUCKY TWINS was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GRANDIOSO was slow to begin. KENZAN began awkwardly and got its head up. On jumping, EPIC ENTERPRISE was crowded for room between KIMBERLEY MINES and FLYING MACHINE. In the early stages, FORTE hung in and then making the turn at the 800 Metres commenced to hang out. At the 300 Metres, FLYING MACHINE was steadied when disappointed for running between KIMBERLEY MINES and JOY FAY FAY which was giving ground. For some distance after this, FLYING MACHINE was held up behind KIMBERLEY MINES and to the inside of JOY FAY FAY. Over the final 200 Metres, EVER SUCCESS did not obtain clear running when racing behind GRAND FIGHTER and to the inside of KIMBERLEY MINES. As such, EVER SUCCESS was not able to be ridden out in the run to the line. FORTE, ABLE CHOICE and THE DUKE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted JOY FAY FAY had blood present in its mouth.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 27 Jan. 2003) :
Immediately following LUCKY TWINS' poor performance in this race, it was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time he was not able to detect any abnormalities.
The Senior Veterinary Officer today reported when he examined LUCKY TWINS at the stables of Trainer K L Man yesterday, the horse was lame in both hind legs.
As previously advised, LUCKY TWINS will not be allowed to race again until it performs competitively in an official barrier trial and passes an official veterinary examination.
