Racing Incident Report

OWNERS' JOY was withdrawn on 7.2.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HALO KING PRAWN (G Schofield). Before OWNERS' JOY can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. On leaving the Parade Ring, BEAR SUPREMO kicked out and made contact with a rail. After arriving at the Start, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. DESERT STORM began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. From the outside barrier, DOUBLE HAPPINESS was immediately steadied and taken back to the rear of the field but close to the rail. From a wide barrier, HALO KING PRAWN was obliged to race wide without cover and throughout the race was inclined to lay out. After the 1200 Metres, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT commenced to over-race, endeavoured to shift out from behind FIGHTING MASCOT and bumped PALETTE NATURAL. When PALETTE NATURAL held its ground, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT became unbalanced and was checked. SPRINTER, which was following, was inconvenienced. At the 700 Metres, THE BIG R was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPRINTER and tight inside INDUSTRIAL PRIDE. At the 400 Metres, SPRINTER was disappointed for running inside SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT. To obtain clear running, SPRINTER was steadied and shifted to the outside of that horse. When under pressure after the 200 Metres, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT hung in and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FIGHTING MASCOT which commenced to give ground. Over the final 200 Metres, WISE CHOICE hung in and then about the 150 Metres shifted ground and bumped HALO KING PRAWN which was giving ground. Some inconvenience was caused to INDUSTRIAL PRIDE which was racing inside HALO KING PRAWN. PERPETUAL PLEASURE, BEAR SUPREMO and PALETTE NATURAL were sent for sampling.
