Racing Incident Report
TRUST ME was withdrawn on race day morning on veterinary grounds (lame right fore foot). Before being allowed to race again, TRUST ME will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, STARWAY PATROL became fractious, reared and sat down behind. The horse was released from the gates, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. On jumping, WINTROW and KIMBERLEY MINES bumped. FLYING MACHINE was a little slow into stride and shortly afterwards was bumped by STARWAY PATROL which shifted in. Approaching the 600 Metres, GENERAL KINGY was momentarily crowded by CROCKER which shifted in away from WINTROW. Shortly after this, GENERAL KINGY shifted out and caused inconvenience to FLYING MACHINE and FLYING GENERAL on its outside. After the 200 Metres, VISION FIRST was checked severely to avoid the heels of WINTROW which was giving ground. Shortly after this, WINTROW became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped FLYING MACHINE. After the 100 Metres, VISION FIRST was steadied and shifted to the inside of FLYING MACHINE. Throughout the race, WINTROW raced greenly and over the concluding stages gave ground quickly. WINTROW was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, WINTROW, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination was carried out. This showed a moderate amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WINTROW will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. FLYING MACHINE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, FLYING MACHINE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was not striding out freely and will be examined again tomorrow. Before being permitted to race again, FLYING MACHINE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. CROCKER and RUN AND WIN were sent for sampling
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 13 Mar. 2003) :
FLYING MACHINE was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer following this race. He said at this time the horse was not striding out freely. FLYING MACHINE was again examined at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning by the Senior Veterinary Officer. At this time he noted the horse to be lame on the right fore foot as a result of having sustained a significant injury to its heel due to overreaching.
As previously reported, FLYING MACHINE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
