Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, GOLDEN FARM got its head down under the front gates of its stall. GOLDEN FARM was removed from its stall, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, trotted up and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. VISION FIRST proved very difficult to load. This caused a delay to the start. Before being allowed to race again, VISION FIRST will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. As the gates opened, SUPER FAST put its head down and began awkwardly, consequently lost ground. BLOOMING START was slow to begin. EPIC ENTERPRISE began awkwardly, then throughout the race hung in and in the Straight hung in badly and proved difficult to ride out. From the outside barrier, GOLDEN FARM raced wide and without cover outside the lead. At the 900 Metres, EASY KING was steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN FARM which shifted in. Near the 600 Metres, GRANDWAY SHUTTLE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of EVEN TILDEN and BLOOMING START was awkwardly placed inside the heels of VISION FIRST. Shortly after straightening, AMAZING and CERTAINTY bumped. At the 200 Metres, Apprentice P H Lo (GOLDEN FARM) dropped his whip. D Whyte (WINNING LAURELS) explained the horse resented the cut in tonight's ground and near the 800 Metres got its head up and became badly unbalanced when facing the kickback. WINNING LAURELS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, WINNING LAURELS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. CERTAINTY, DRAGON HORSE and GRANDWAY SHUTTLE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted GOLDEN FARM had a small laceration to the right fore cannon.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 3 Apr. 2003) :
A post race clinical examination of WINNING LAURELS, which performed poorly, by the Senior Veterinary Officer did not show any significant finding.  WINNING LAURELS was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y O Wong this morning and at this time was noted to have an abrasion to the left eye and be stiff behind.
