Racing Incident Report
While being transported to the course, ALWAYS WELCOME lost its right hind plate. After arriving at the course, ALWAYS WELCOME was re-shod. Prior to the race, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. PERFECT GALLANT was slow to begin. MYSTIC SPIRITS began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped ALWAYS WELCOME. As a result of this, ALWAYS WELCOME became unbalanced and lost ground. On jumping, KING OF THE TURF shifted out and shortly after the start bumped HIN YUEN'S UNICORN (K H Ting). As a result of this, K H Ting lost the use of his right side stirrup for a short distance. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, JOYFUL MASTER became unbalanced after being bumped by ALWAYS WELCOME. From the outside barrier, JOYFUL MASTER was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout. Making the Home Turn, HIN YUEN'S UNICORN hung out and on straightening was steadied away from the heels of KING OF THE TURF. Near the 100 Metres, TREASURE FIELD, which was making some ground, was shifted out to avoid AMITY which was giving ground. In the Straight, SUPERIOR TITLE got its head on the side and lay in. S Dye (SIGHT CHAMPION) was fined $3,000 for improper use of the whip in that he raised weals on its right side hip. SIGHT CHAMPION and EASY KING were sent for sampling.
