Racing Incident Report

Prior to weighing out, G Mossé (ELEGANT FASHION) said he was experiencing some dizziness due to the heat. After being informed of this, the Stewards directed G Mossé be examined by the Club's medical officer before weighing out. After this examination was carried out, the medical officer said in his opinion G Mossé was fit to ride. As a result of this medical examination, there was a delay in G Mossé weighing out which in turn caused a delay to ELEGANT FASHION entering the Parade Ring. When the gates opened, VISORHILL stood flat-footed and missed the start. HELENE VITALITY began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. On jumping, SNOWSTORM and SUPREME RABBIT bumped. In the early stages, HELENE VITALITY proved difficult to settle. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, INDIGENOUS was steadied away from the heels of PRECISION. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, SUPREME RABBIT got its head up when close to the heels of RIVER DANCER which was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PRECISION. No action was taken. After the 1000 Metres, RIVER DANCER commenced to over-race and got its head up when awkwardly placed on the heels of BLUE STITCH. Near the 700 Metres, BLUE STITCH was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ELEGANT FASHION. At the 200 Metres, BLUE STITCH was checked when crowded for room between ELEGANT FASHION and PRECISION, both of which shifted ground. In the circumstances, it was considered appropriate that no action be taken. After this incident, ELEGANT FASHION continued to hang out and raced tight with PRECISION for some distance. For the major part of the Straight, VISORHILL was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind IDOL and CARACOLER, both of which were giving ground. Throughout the race from a wide barrier, SNOWSTORM was obliged to race wide and without cover. VISORHILL was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, VISORHILL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the left hind leg and had cast its left front plate. Before being allowed to race again, VISORHILL will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. PRECISION and ELEGANT FASHION were sent for sampling.
