Racing Incident Report
SUPREME RABBIT was withdrawn on 3.10.03 on veterinary grounds (left fore bruised tendon). Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME RABBIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MINE HOST and BULL'S EYE were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, DANAMITE threw its head about. From the outside barrier, CELEBRATION travelled in a forward position but wide without cover. In the early stages, HELENE VITALITY proved difficult to settle. Near the 1400 Metres, DANAMITE was steadied away from the heels of BLUE STITCH which shifted out away from the heels of CELEBRATION. R Fradd, the rider of 7th placegetter, DARWIN, was reprimanded and told to ensure he rides his mounts out to the end of the race at least hands and heels wherever circumstances permit. R Fradd said just prior to straightening, it felt to him as though his mount was being struck behind by MINE HOST which was following him. S Dye (MULTIWINNING) said the horse raced towards the rear as expected, however, he had been instructed not to go around the field from the 600 Metres as the horse was second up over 1800 Metres and was not "hard enough" to make a sustained run on a track that did not appear to be obviously favouring horses coming from the rear. He said MULTIWINNING gave him a "nice feel" in the run, however, with a heavy weight today did not quicken at the 600 Metres. He said on straightening he shifted out to follow BLUE STITCH through, however, MULTIWINNING did not respond to his riding and finished the race off only fairly. S Dye pointed out MULTIWINNING's best form is on tracks with more give than that of today. MULTIWINNING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, MULTIWINNING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. BLUE STITCH and HELENE VITALITY were sent for sampling.
