Racing Incident Report
FREE WAY, which was standing with its head turned to the left, began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. ADVANCE AHEAD was slow to begin. CHOICE AND CHANCE began awkwardly from the outside gate, then got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained to shift across behind runners to a position closer to the rail. OSCAR STAR was slow to begin. From an outside barrier, SING AND DRINK raced wide and without cover throughout. After the 1000 Metres, DYNAMIC VISION was hampered when crowded for room between PROFIT DAY which shifted out away from the heels of OPTIC FIT and WINNING PARADE which momentarily shifted in. At the 700 Metres, CHECK MATE was bumped by DYNAMIC VISION. Making the Home Turn, OPTIC FIT hung out. After straightening, KEEP ON EASY got its head on the side and was reluctant to shift to the outside of BEARCAT to obtain clear running. After the 300 Metres, ADVANCE AHEAD was momentarily steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between FREE WAY which was giving ground and CHOICE AND CHANCE which shifted in. In this incident, ADVANCE AHEAD brushed the hindquarters of FREE WAY which as a result became unbalanced. At the 200 Metres, A Marcus (WINNING PARADE) dropped his whip. H K Yim (KEEP ON EASY) explained the horse was proving very difficult to settle in the early stages, he therefore elected approaching the 800 Metres to steady his mount to allow BEARCAT to cross to the fence and provide him with cover. He said when he did this KEEP ON EASY got its head up on a number of occasions, however, after obtaining cover the horse then relaxed for him. SING AND DRINK was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of SING AND DRINK after the race did not show any significant findings. BEARCAT and KEEP ON EASY were sent for sampling.
