Racing Incident Report
BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY, which had been fractious in the stalls, was slow to begin. SUNNY WIN was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied when SOLINUS shifted out. ORIENTAL was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, DANSERT MAESTRO and SHANGHAI DELIGHT were crowded for room between KEEP ON EASY which shifted in and SOLINUS which shifted further out. After the 400 Metres, X-SPEED got its head on the side and was inclined to lay out, then near the 300 Metres was brushed by BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY which itself shifted out. Also after the 400 Metres, DANSERT MAESTRO and KIWI DASH hung in. Near the 100 Metres, MAJOR BEE and SURE FORTUNE bumped. Throughout the race, KEEP ON EASY hung in and proved difficult to ride. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, KEEP ON EASY shifted in while hanging, causing ORIENTAL PEARL to be carried in. In the circumstances, H K Yim was severely reprimanded and told he would be expected to make a far greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting in than he did on this occasion. H K Yim was fined $2,000 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post. D Dunn (BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY) said after the horse was slow to begin, he elected to allow it to travel forward where it was comfortable racing. He said he was satisfied with his position after the 500 Metres, however, when he shifted to the inside into clear running, BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY failed to quicken as he had hoped and kept on only fairly in the run to the line. D Dunn said the manner in which BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY raced indicated to him it would be better suited over a distance of further than today's 1000 Metres. BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. KEEP ON EASY and ORIENTAL PEARL were sent for sampling.
