Racing Incident Report

WINMARK was slow to begin. FOOD LOVER began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped NOBLE GLORY. On jumping, LUCKY FRIENDS shifted out and bumped NAZAKAT II. BUCK'S FIZZ began awkwardly. Near the 1500 Metres, LUCKY FRIENDS became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly away from the heels of BAYVIEW LAD which when being steadied to obtain cover was shifted out away from the heels of GREAT DRAGON (Apprentice P H Lo) which after being slow to begin was ridden along to improve inside WATCH KING which itself was shifting in. BUCK'S FIZZ, which was following LUCKY FRIENDS, was checked in consequence. Apprentice P H Lo was reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to show better judgement than he had on this occasion. In the early and middle stages, WATCH KING proved difficult to settle and making the turn after the 800 Metres hung out. Approaching the 800 Metres, NAZAKAT II was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREAT DRAGON. In the early part of the Straight, NAZAKAT II had its head on the side and was reluctant to shift to the outside of GREAT DRAGON into clear running. Near the 200 Metres, ALLEGRO was bumped and carried wider by LUCKY FRIENDS which was improving into a narrow run on the outside of NOBLE ZOOM which itself shifted slightly. After the 100 Metres, NOBLE ZOOM was momentarily steadied away from the heels of NAZAKAT II which was being carried out by GREAT DRAGON. Apprentice P H Lo (GREAT DRAGON) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift out whilst being ridden along when not clear of NAZAKAT II, causing that horse to be hampered and carried from its rightful running. Apprentice P H Lo was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 4 December 2003 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley meeting next Wednesday 19 November 2003. Throughout the race NOBLE ZOOM raced three wide and without cover. BAYVIEW LAD, GREAT DRAGON and ALLEGRO were sent for sampling.
