CHINESE KID began awkwardly and in the early stages proved difficult to settle. SUPER COMBED, which was standing with its head turned to the right, began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and consequently lost ground. BLACK CARBINE began awkwardly and became unbalanced. At the 1900 Metres, JUST TOO GOOD, which was racing wide, was carried wider by BLACK CARBINE which got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of CHINESE KID. After this, BLACK CARBINE continued to race wide and without cover. Near the 1300 Metres, VENETIAN MASTER bumped the running rail. After the 1300 Metres, TWEET was shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY FORTUNE which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of JUST TOO GOOD which had its head on the side and shifted in slightly. Near the 700 Metres, MAMOUSKA was steadied to avoid the heels of NATURAL ECHO (A Marcus) which when improving to cross to the lead shifted in when not properly clear. In the circumstances, A Marcus was reprimanded. For some distance approaching and passing the 600 Metres, JUST TOO GOOD was awkwardly placed behind BLACK CARBINE which was giving ground. Making the Home Turn, MAMOUSKA bumped the running rail. At the 400 Metres, VENETIAN MASTER was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUNNY DESERT. In the Straight, VENETIAN MASTER hung in. HAPPY FORTUNE and BLACK CARBINE were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, HAPPY FORTUNE and BLACK CARBINE were examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. SUPER COMBED and NATURAL ECHO were sent for sampling.
