Racing Incident Report

GOLD MASTER began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of TRUST ME. FLORAL KHAN was slow to begin. At the 800 Metres, MASTER YING was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of MAJOR BEE which shifted in when only just clear. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, LUCKY TRIO, which had been racing tight with HAPPY TOGETHER for some distance, became unbalanced and lost its position when crowded between that horse and MASTER YING, both of which shifted a little ground. Shortly after this, LUCKY TRIO was steadied further to avoid the heels of HAPPY TOGETHER which shifted out making the turn. In all the circumstances, no action was taken. Making the Home Turn, LUCKY TRIO hung out. In the Straight, EXCITING TIMES hung out. When being ridden out, TRUST ME shifted out. Because of this near the 200 Metres, Apprentice K T Yeung, its rider, changed the whip into his left hand. Throughout the race, HOLY QUEST raced wide and without cover. LUCKY TRIO and HAPPY TOGETHER were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of LUCKY TRIO and HAPPY TOGETHER after the race did not show any significant findings. FOUR ACES, MAJOR BEE and SAINTLY PARTNERS were sent for sampling. The Veterinary Officer reported that after the race EXCITING TIMES had been scoped at the request of Mr A S Cruz, the trainer of the horse. He said this scope showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, EXCITING TIMES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
