Racing Incident Report
WINNING SMILE, which was standing with its head turned to the right, was slow to begin. SPIRITUAL KING began awkwardly. At the 1300 Metres, TELECOM BABE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SPIRITUAL KING. Making the turn near the 1200 Metres, SPIRITUAL KING and EVEREST hung in. Near the 900 Metres, SPIRITUAL KING got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of KID GALAXY. In the middle stages, TELECOM BABE proved difficult to settle. After the 800 Metres, TELECOM BABE was carried out by KID GALAXY which shifted to the outside of GREAT DRAGON. As a result of this, TELECOM BABE was steadied away from the heels of PROFIT DAY which shifted in slightly. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, PROFIT DAY hung in and bumped GREAT DRAGON. At the 600 Metres, WINNING SMILE, which was laying in, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TELECOM BABE. Near the 400 Metres, SPIRITUAL KING was steadied when crowded for room between FOOD LOVER and NEW CENTURY which was carried out by GREAT DRAGON which when giving ground was carried out slightly by HAPPY WINNING. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Near the 200 Metres, HAPPY WINNING turned its head to the left and attempted to savage PROFIT DAY. As HAPPY WINNING has performed similarly in the past, the Stewards advised Trainer B K Ng that the horse will be required to pass a series of official barrier trials amongst runners prior to being permitted to race again. Further, Mr Ng was advised should the horse perform similarly in any future barrier trial and race, consideration will be given to recommending to the Board of Stewards that the entry of HAPPY WINNING be refused. Also near the 200 Metres, NEW CENTURY, which was beginning to close off, was steadied and shifted to the outside of KID GALAXY into clear running. Near the 100 Metres, TELECOM BABE, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of FOOD LOVER which shifted in. The performance of GREAT DRAGON, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT DRAGON will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EVEREST was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, EVEREST, which tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. The performance of EVEREST was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, EVEREST will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KID GALAXY, CYBER GULCH and WINNING SMILE were sent for sampling.
