Racing Incident Report

NILOMETER was withdrawn on 20.3.04 on veterinary grounds (lame right hind capped hock). Before being permitted to race again, NILOMETER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HIMALAYA began awkwardly. MAGNIFIER was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, MULTIWINNING was steadied when crowded for room between FLORAL DYNAMITE and CLEMENT SUPREME which shifted in. J Holder (STAY YOUNG) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MIGHTY HUGO, causing that horse to be crowded for room and in turn shift in, resulting in KINGFIELD losing its rightful running and being checked. In the circumstances of this case, it was decided J Holder should be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 12 April 2004 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Wednesday 24 March 2004. In this incident, when KINGFIELD checked, CHEEKY, which was following, raced close to the heels of that horse and became badly unbalanced. Just before making the turn at the 800 Metres, MIGHTY HUGO was steadied away from the heels of MEDIC CORPS which shifted in when only just clear. FLORAL DYNAMITE and CLEMENT SUPREME, which were following, were hampered in consequence. Prior to straightening, MAGNIFIER was bumped and carried wider by CLEMENT SUPREME which shifted out. Making the Home Turn and in the Straight, STAY YOUNG hung out. After the 200 Metres, CHEEKY was momentarily steadied when disappointed for running between KINGFIELD and HIMALAYA. Over the concluding stages, FLYING BISHOP was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREEN CHANNEL which was shifting in and because of this was not ridden to the line as it normally would be. Just prior to the winning post, MEDIC CORPS was momentarily steadied away from the heels of STAY YOUNG which was shifting out. Almost right on the winning post, STAY YOUNG and GREEN CHANNEL raced tight. STAY YOUNG and GREEN CHANNEL were sent for sampling.
