Racing Incident Report
FOOD LOVER was slow to begin. GOLDEN MAPLE and DON SEBASTIAN began awkwardly. SPEED WINNER began awkwardly, knuckled and consequently lost ground. SURE FORTUNE (Apprentice P H Lo) began awkwardly, then immediately shifted to the inside of BIEN BIEN HEART which had drawn to its inside in gate one. SURE FORTUNE was then ridden to improve inside BIEN BIEN HEART where in the opinion of the Stewards there was restricted racing room. As a result of this, for some distance SURE FORTUNE raced tight, then passing the winning post the first time was checked away from the heels of BIEN BIEN HEART which was carried in slightly by SHOW BRAVELY. Apprentice P H Lo was told in the opinion of the Stewards he should not in the circumstances have endeavoured to improve inside BIEN BIEN HEART. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, SPECTACULAR HIT was steadied and became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room between LEAD TO WIN which shifted in slightly and GOLDEN MAPLE which shifted out away from the heels of ACTIVE ACCOUNT. Making the turn near the 1400 Metres, CHINA CAT raced tight inside SPEED WINNER which in turn raced tight inside LUCKY DICE. After the 1400 Metres, SPEED WINNER and LUCKY DICE were bumped and carried wider by CHINA CAT which shifted to the outside of the heels of STEP FORWARD. At the 300 Metres, SURE FORTUNE was steadied when crowded for room between LEAD TO WIN and SPECTACULAR HIT which shifted out slightly. Also at the 300 Metres, SHOW BRAVELY was steadied and shifted to the outside of SPEED WINNER to continue going forward. After this, SHOW BRAVELY hung in. Near the 100 Metres, DON SEBASTIAN was steadied and shifted to the inside of STEP FORWARD to obtain clear running. In the Straight, GOLDEN MAPLE hung in and because of this just prior to the winning post, T Mundry, its rider, stopped riding and straightened. CHINA CAT, GOLDEN MAPLE and STEP FORWARD were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted FOOD LOVER had lost its right front plate.
