Racing Incident Report
On jumping, LANCETTIER and OCELOT bumped. After the 200 Metres, JOYFUL SPIRIT was steadied when crowded for room between SIROCCO and CHEEKY (Apprentice H W Lai) which drifted in when not properly clear. CLASSIC MASTER, which was following CHEEKY, was steadied in consequence. Apprentice H W Lai was advised to exercise more care. In the Straight, OCELOT hung in. C Williams (CLEMENT SUPREME) said in the early stages the horse did not stride out as he thought it should and he was concerned with its action as it was changing stride frequently throughout the race. He said because of the manner in which CLEMENT SUPREME was travelling in the early stages, it became detached from the field. He said he was able to gradually make ground after the 600 Metres when riding his horse hands and heels, however, he remained concerned with the action of CLEMENT SUPREME. He said then in the Straight CLEMENT SUPREME commenced to make ground, he initially remained on the inner in an attempt to save ground, however, after the 200 Metres when it became apparent to him that he would not obtain clear running in front of him, he shifted his horse out and it finished the race off fairly. He said immediately after passing the post when easing CLEMENT SUPREME down, it appeared to him to be sore in front. CLEMENT SUPREME was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, CLEMENT SUPREME was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CLEMENT SUPREME will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CLASSIC MASTER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of CLASSIC MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. HIGH INTELLIGENT and HIMALAYA were sent for sampling.
