Racing Incident Report

GREEN IN BLUE began awkwardly. FAT CHANCE was slow to begin. At the 1500 Metres, FAT CHANCE was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of GREEN IN BLUE. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, STOIC and OUT OF MY WAY were tightened for room inside COUNTRY BOY. After the 300 Metres, GREEN IN BLUE was steadied when disappointed for running between OUT OF MY WAY and COUNTRY BOY which when giving ground was tight inside PACIFIC ALLIANCE. For the major part of the race, WINNING RONGRONG hung out. R Fradd (ZERUBBABEL) said he had been instructed to ride the horse which had not been beginning well in its races around midfield if possible. He said today ZERUBBABEL again began only fairly, he therefore elected to allow the horse to drop back and travel where it was comfortable despite this being in a rearward position. He said prior to straightening he shifted ZERUBBABEL out to ensure he had clear running as in his opinion the horse gave him the feel it was going to close the race off strongly. He said in the Straight ZERUBBABEL did not close off as anticipated and was overall somewhat disappointing. G Mossé (PACIFIC ALLIANCE) said it was anticipated today's race would be strongly run with the pace horses drawn below him. He said when ridden forward from a wide gate at its last start the horse did not finish off as hoped. He said PACIFIC ALLIANCE began only fairly, so he then commenced to follow the field across in what he thought would be around a midfield position. He said when he positioned himself with cover behind CHATER LANE, that horse did not go on as he had hoped and gave ground, because of this obliged him to be carried back and raced further back than was intended. Mr D A Hayes, the trainer of PACIFIC ALLIANCE, said he was unsure of the manner in which the race would be run and therefore he was not binding on the instructions he issued G Mossé. He said however he was disappointed last start with the horse when it raced in a forward position and did not close the race off. He said the awkward gate drawn by PACIFIC ALLIANCE today led him to believe it may not be in the horse's best interest to race in a forward position. COUNTRY BOY and GREEN IN BLUE were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of COUNTRY BOY and GREEN IN BLUE after the race did not show any significant findings. DR WELL, LUCKY SIXER and SHABU SHABU were sent for sampling.
