Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, B Doyle, the rider of FANTASY, complained of dehydration. B Doyle was examined by the Club's doctor who said he was not fit to fulfil his riding engagement. To avoid an unreasonable delay, FANTASY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. LUCKSWELL began awkwardly. WYNDAM EASY was slow to begin, then shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GREAT DELIGHT. GOLCONDA was slow to begin, then shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of HELENE MOMENTUM. At the 900 Metres, FIFTY FIFTY, which was travelling keenly, was steadied to avoid the heels of BEARCAT which shifted in slightly when racing tight on the inside of WYNDAM EASY which at this time had its head on the side when hanging in and shifted in slightly. After this, WYNDAM EASY continued to hang in. At the 500 Metres, HIGH INTELLIGENT was bumped by FIFTY FIFTY which shifted out. Near the 300 Metres, HIGH INTELLIGENT and GOODY were momentarily crowded for room between INVERNESS and GOOD PROFIT which shifted in. Approaching the 200 Metres, BEARCAT was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind GREAT DELIGHT and inside WYNDAM EASY. After the 200 Metres, SUMMERLAND was steadied when crowded for room between HELENE MOMENTUM and GOODY, both of which shifted ground. M Rodd (LUCKSWELL) explained in the early stages his mount which was racing first up was travelling only fairly, he therefore decided against riding along near the 1000 Metres to prevent SUMMERLAND from obtaining a position in front of him on the rail. He said he felt it was in the best interest of LUCKSWELL to have the horse travelling comfortably in the hope that it would close the race off. He said in the Straight LUCKSWELL did close off nicely, however, its run ended short of the line. GOLCONDA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOLCONDA after the race did not show any significant findings. GOOD PROFIT and FIFTY FIFTY were sent for sampling.
