Racing Incident Report
NOBLE CHAMPION and ALWAYS WIN were a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards were checked when crowded for room between GREAT WIN which was carried out by CLASSA FOR EVER and AMAZING VICTORY which shifted in. In the early stages, EGYPTIAN RA proved very difficult to settle and got its head up. After the 700 Metres, FLASHING STAR was checked when crowded for room between TRIUMPHANT UNICORN which became unbalanced and shifted in after being bumped on the hindquarters and SWISS LAD (F Coetzee) which shifted out away from the heels of ARABIAN WAGER. CLASSA FOR EVER, which was following, was checked in consequence. In the circumstances of this case, F Coetzee was severely reprimanded. Just prior to the winning post, NOBLE CHAMPION, which had been closing the race off strongly, was checked when disappointed for running between CLASSA FOR EVER and TRIUMPHANT UNICORN. As a consequence, NOBLE CHAMPION was not ridden out to the line. For the major part of the race, TRIUMPHANT UNICORN raced wide and without cover. C Williams (CLASSA FOR EVER) said he had been instructed to lead on the horse if possible. He said CLASSA FOR EVER in the past had been difficult to manage in the gates, after being boxed became very fractious and reared on two occasions. He said when the gates opened CLASSA FOR EVER was a little slow to begin, immediately shifted out and bumped GREAT WIN, as a result became unbalanced. He said as he straightened CLASSA FOR EVER, GREAT WIN then shifted in from his outside and as a result shortly after the start he had to check CLASSA FOR EVER when crowded for room between FLASHING STAR and GREAT WIN. He said after this CLASSA FOR EVER proved very difficult to settle and raced with its head up when close to the heels of FLASHING STAR for a considerable distance. C Williams said as a result of the circumstances at the start the horse raced much further back than was anticipated. NOBLE CHAMPION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE CHAMPION after the race did not show any significant findings. TRIUMPHANT UNICORN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, TRIUMPHANT UNICORN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TRIUMPHANT UNICORN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMAZING VICTORY and SWISS LAD were sent for sampling. Also after the race, it was reported that ALWAYS WIN had lost its right front plate.
