Racing Incident Report
JUST A MARTIAN was withdrawn on 16.11.04 on veterinary grounds (inappetance) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PROGRESSING TIMES (A Delpech). Before being allowed to race again, JUST A MARTIAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DENDRANTHEMA LOVE began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was crowded for room between SIXTY SECONDS and STRONG SUN. KA KA WIN began awkwardly. After passing the passing post on the first occasion, MONEY STRONG was momentarily steadied away from the heels of PRINCE GOLF. Near the 1300 Metres, TOY QUEST became unbalanced and lost ground after being bumped by FLYING SUCCESS which itself became unbalanced after being bumped by PROGRESSING TIMES. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, STRONG SUN was crowded for room inside FLYING SUCCESS which got its head on the side and shifted in away from PRINCE GOLF. Near the 500 Metres, TOY QUEST got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRINCE GOLF. In the Straight, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE lay in and was reluctant to shift out and near the 200 Metres bumped the hindquarters of ARROGANCE which was taken out slightly by SIXTY SECONDS which in turn was carried out by FLYING SUCCESS. Passing the 200 Metres, KA KA WIN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINNING RONGRONG which was hanging in when tiring. Close to the winning post, SIXTY SECONDS, which was finishing the race off strongly, improved into a narrow run between FLYING SUCCESS and PRINCE GOLF which shifted in slightly, resulting in SIXTY SECONDS making contact with FLYING SUCCESS. G Schofield (MONEY STRONG) said the horse did not show its customary speed, in the early stages he elected to come back to obtain a position with cover and he was able to find the rail passing the 1000 Metres. He said making the Home Turn he followed CALIFORNIA BISHOP and PROGRESSING TIMES and his initial thought was to shift on straightening to the outside of PROGRESSING TIMES in the hope of securing clear running. He said as he commenced to move towards the outside of PROGRESSING TIMES, that horse shifted to the outside of CALIFORNIA BISHOP, he therefore elected to shift back to the inside where clear running was available towards the rail. He said as he commenced to improve towards the inside of CALIFORNIA BISHOP, that horse drifted back towards the rail and as a consequence he steadied when disappointed for running. He said after this near the 200 Metres he shifted out in an endeavour to improve between CALIFORNIA BISHOP and PROGRESSING TIMES, but he was again disappointed for running as PROGRESSING TIMES drifted in. He said because of this he steadied and commenced to shift out, however, he was not clear of KA KA WIN and so he remained between CALIFORNIA BISHOP and PROGRESSING TIMES. The explanation of G Schofield was accepted. ARROGANCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ARROGANCE after the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA BISHOP, STRONG SUN and PROGRESSING TIMES were sent for sampling.
