Racing Incident Report

TOM'S FIRST was slow to begin. DELIGHTFUL WIN began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was crowded for room between PACKING ANGEL and GREAT LEADER which shifted out. Making the Home Turn, FLYING BISHOP was held up and unable to improve when racing behind STARDANE and GREEN WARRIOR. TOM'S FIRST, which was racing to the inside of FLYING BISHOP, was also held up. Making the Home Turn and in the Straight, GOLDEN CARE hung out. At the 400 Metres, MASTER GIGOLO was steadied when disappointed for running between BETTER BOY and KINGFIELD. Over the concluding stages, GOLCONDA hung in. The performance of GREEN WARRIOR, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GREEN WARRIOR will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. R Fradd (GREAT LEADER) explained he had intended to ride the horse in a forward position, however, throughout the race the horse appeared uncomfortable racing inside other runners and was reluctant to hold its position. He said near the 700 Metres the horse was reluctant to stride out and maintain its position and following this tailed out. He said during the run he was of the opinion something might have been amiss with the horse, however, following the race he was unable to identify any problem. GREAT LEADER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GREAT LEADER after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of GREAT LEADER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT LEADER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PACKING ANGEL and BETTER BOY were sent for sampling.
