Racing Incident Report

JOYWIN COMBINATION and EXULTATION were slow to begin. On jumping, OLIVE OR TWIST and MADE IN HONGKONG bumped. Shortly after the start, RISING WIN got its head up when being steadied to shift across behind runners to a position with cover. Near the 1500 Metres, MADE IN HONGKONG, which was being steadied, was crowded for room between NOBLE HEART and OLIVE OR TWIST (A Delpech) which shifted in when not properly clear. A Delpech was advised to exercise more care. G Schofield (TELECOM SUPERBOSS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of ON SHAN EXPRESS, causing that horse to strike the hind leg of TELECOM SUPERBOSS, blunder and almost fall. JUST VICTORY and NOBLE HEART, which were following, were checked in consequence. G Schofield was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 6 January 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 26 December 2004. In addition, G Schofield was fined $70,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 2 further racedays. Also after passing the winning post on the first occasion, COULDN'T CARE LESS got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of OLIVE OR TWIST. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, EXULTATION got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of COULDN'T CARE LESS. At the 900 Metres, EXULTATION and MADE IN HONGKONG became badly unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of COULDN'T CARE LESS. SHINING GEM, which was following, was checked. For some distance approaching the 800 Metres, due to the pace, MADE IN HONGKONG proved difficult to settle. After the 200 Metres, COULDN'T CARE LESS was shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TELECOM SUPERBOSS. When COULDN'T CARE LESS was shifted out, JUST VICTORY was carried out and bumped NOBLE HEART. At the 100 Metres, TELECOM SUPERBOSS shifted out and bumped GLORIOUS RHYTHM. JOYWIN COMBINATION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of JOYWIN COMBINATION after the race did not show any significant findings. NOBLE HEART, GLORIOUS RHYTHM and TELECOM SUPERBOSS were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted ON SHAN EXPRESS had lost its right hind plate.
