Racing Incident Report

GREAT SENSATION was withdrawn on 27.1.05 on veterinary grounds (bled from both nostrils after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPARKLE. SUNDAY DELIGHT, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 29.1.05 on veterinary grounds (high white blood cell count). Before being allowed to race again, SUNDAY DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHARIOT OF WEI HAI began awkwardly, threw its head about and lost ground. STEP FORWARD was slow to begin. BODACIOUS bounded in the air at the start, lost ground and was then severely checked when crowded for room between ACE KING which shifted out slightly and COURAGEOUSHEART which was carried in by FASHION JEWELLERY which had its head on the side and shifted in away from VICTORY TREASURE after being brushed by that horse. In this incident, COURAGEOUSHEART was also checked and as a consequence got well back. In the early stages, FLYING KENNY proved difficult to settle, was not able to obtain cover and near the 800 Metres was allowed to stride forward to join the lead. Also in the early stages, FASHION JEWELLERY hung in. Near the 1200 Metres, SPEED OF LIGHT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPARKLE. After the 1000 Metres, BODACIOUS was checked to avoid the heels of ACE KING which itself steadied away from the heels of GLORIOUS RHYTHM which in turn steadied away from the heels of MAGICAL LOT. No action was taken. Also after the 1000 Metres, SPEED OF LIGHT, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when close to the heels of SPARKLE. On straightening, VICTORY TREASURE was steadied away from the heels of VICTORY TURBO which shifted out. In the early part of the Straight, SPEED OF LIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear running when racing behind GLORIOUS RHYTHM, then after the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of VICTORY TURBO when disappointed for running between that horse and FLYING KENNY which was giving ground. In the Straight, STEP FORWARD hung out and proved very difficult to ride. Also in the Straight, COURAGEOUSHEART hung out. The performance of ACE KING, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ACE KING will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VICTORY TREASURE, FASHION JEWELLERY and COURAGEOUSHEART were sent for sampling.
