Racing Incident Report
On jumping, LUCKY DANSKE stumbled. Shortly after the start, DELIGHTFUL WIN was checked when crowded for room between SABRE AND GOLD which shifted in and NOBLE CHAMPION which was carried out by UPBEAT which shifted ground after being bumped on jumping by SUMMERVILLE POWER. At the 800 Metres, LOTZATOW was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of UPBEAT which at this time blundered and lost ground. At the 700 Metres, GUNG HO was bumped by UPBEAT which shifted out. Near the 500 Meters, UPBEAT was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOBLE MAN. On straightening, UPBEAT, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside GUNG HO. At the 300 Metres, KAISER'S PRIZE was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of GOOD NATURE which was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, NOBLE CHAMPION, OSCAR STAR and LOTZATOW were hampered and carried wider when NOBLE MAN (O Chavez) got its head on the side and shifted out. O Chavez was advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten sooner than he did on this occasion. O Doleuze (GUNG HO) said from the outside barrier the intention had been to ride the horse where it was comfortable. He said GUNG HO began fairly, he allowed it to stride forward in the early stages, but it soon became apparent to him that he would be obliged to race wide and without cover. He said because of this he did not persevere going forward but rather allowed GUNG HO to obtain a position around midfield with cover which he said was of no concern as the horse had previously shown itself to quicken when asked. He said however today after straightening when he asked GUNG HO to improve the horse immediately got its head on the side, commenced to hang in and whilst it did make some ground did not finish the race off as he thought it should. GUNG HO, LUCKY DANSKE and SUMMERVILLE POWER were sent for sampling.
