Racing Incident Report
Y T Cheng was fined $2,000 for accepting the engagements on SHATIN WIN WIN and SALUT BEAUTE. O Chavez was substituted as the rider of SALUT BEAUTE. HARMONY, which was fractious in the Parade Ring, stumbled and almost knuckled over. On arrival at the barriers, HARMONY was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said after the necessary consultations was suitable to race. PROFIT HILL and ONE STEP AHEAD were slow to begin. FOURSQUARE began awkwardly. Approaching the 600 Metres, MANIFEST got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of KEEN FLYER. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, HARMONY, which was hanging out, was taken wider on the track by KEEN FLYER which itself shifted out. Near the 400 Metres, HARMONY shifted in and became awkwardly placed close to the heels of KEEN FLYER. When questioned regarding his riding of SHATIN WIN WIN, Y T Cheng said the horse began awkwardly with him, threw its head in the air and consequently lost ground, as a result he was obliged to race back in the field. He said he immediately commenced to ride his mount along in an endeavour to improve his position, but SHATIN WIN WIN was initially reluctant to improve its position. He added in the Straight whilst he did not use the whip he at all times rode his mount along hands and heels, however, in his opinion the horse finished the race off only fairly. Y T Cheng was advised at all times he must ride his horses in such a manner as to leave no room for query. The Stewards will interview Trainer J Moore who was not present at tonight's racemeeting regarding the apparent improved performance of the winner EVER MORE at a date and time to be fixed. HARMONY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, HARMONY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise and an endoscopic examination showed it to be a "roarer". EVER MORE and PROGRESSING TIMES were sent for sampling.
