Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, WINNING ATTORNEY became fractious and hit the front gate of its stall. The horse was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Also after being boxed, LIGHTING THE WORLD became fractious and reared over in its stall. When LIGHTING THE WORLD reared over, JET RISE, which had been fractious, endeavoured to break out underneath the front gates of its stall. Both horses were removed from their stalls and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion they were not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawals of LIGHTING THE WORLD and JET RISE. Before being permitted to race again, LIGHTING THE WORLD will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination and JET RISE, having in mind its previous history, will have to perform satisfactorily in a series of official barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WING FOOT began awkwardly and lost a little ground, then shortly afterwards lost further ground after becoming unbalanced when bumped between FLASH MAC and MAJIN BUU, both of which shifted ground. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, WING FOOT, which was racing ungenerously, got its head up and was checked when momentarily crowded for room inside MAJIN BUU which had been carried in slightly by WINNING ATTORNEY (D Whyte). D Whyte was advised to exercise greater care. D Whyte explained the horse did not begin as well as it has in the past, he then had to make some use of the horse to clear runners to his inside and cross to race in a one off position behind the leader. He said for him to have gone forward and race outside the leader or even in advance of that horse would have required him to make too much use of WINNING ATTORNEY. He did point out in the Straight WINNING ATTORNEY gave ground. MAJIN BUU, FLASH MAC and HORACE'S HORSE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that BEAMING RIVER was lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BEAMING RIVER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
