Racing Incident Report

Prior to the running of Race 1, it was noted DRAGON STRIDE had lost its right hind plate in the holding stalls. DRAGON STRIDE was re-plated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NATURAL ECHO began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and bumped DANEPRINT. On jumping, SHINING DRAGON was crowded for room between WAFER KING and ALL OUR WAY, both of which shifted ground. MIRACULOUS was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards bumped RIGHT CHOICE after getting its head on the side and shifting in when being steadied away from the heels of ATHLETIC GOLD. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, NATURAL ECHO was steadied away from the heels of ALL OUR WAY on several occasions. Near the 1300 Metres, MIRACULOUS, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ATHLETIC GOLD. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, MIRACULOUS hung in, then shortly afterwards when continuing to prove difficult to settle was shifted wider on the track. As a result of this, DANEPRINT was carried wider. Near the 250 Metres, NATURAL ECHO was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between WAFER KING and MIRACULOUS. Near the 200 Metres, FAVOURITE RETURN was bumped by RIGHT CHOICE which shifted to the outside of DRAGON STRIDE into clear running. At the 100 Metres, FAVOURITE RETURN, which was giving ground, shifted in slightly and was checked away from the heels of RIGHT CHOICE (G Schofield) which shifted out abruptly. G Schofield was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Throughout the race, FAIRPLAY raced wide and without cover. FAVOURITE RETURN, DRAGON STRIDE and RIGHT CHOICE were sent for sampling.
