Racing Incident Report
LUCKY PORT began awkwardly and bounded in the air, then in the early stages failed to muster speed. On jumping SING FAY FAY and AMSTERDAM bumped. In the early stages, FORTUNE WARRIOR raced wide and without cover and at the 1200 Metres was taken back to a position behind REAL SURPRISE. At the 800 Metres, FORTUNE WARRIOR was carried wider by AMSTERDAM which at this time shifted out. As a consequence, FORTUNE WARRIOR then continued to race wide and without cover. Near the 1200 Metres, AMSTERDAM, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of PRIME DELIGHT. Approaching the 800 Metres, AMSTERDAM, which was continuing to prove difficult to settle, was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRIME DELIGHT and REAL SURPRISE. Also approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, GALLANT FALCON, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of EVERGREEN. As a result of this, DON FELIPE was carried wider. In the middle stages, REAL SURPRISE raced wide and without cover. Near the 600 Metres, PRIME DELIGHT was bumped on several occasions by GOOD PARTNER which at this time was proving difficult to settle and improved its position on the outside of CHAMP DRAGON. Near the 300 Metres, PRIME DELIGHT, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the outside of REAL SURPRISE after being disappointed when attempting to improve between that horse which shifted in slightly and GOOD PARTNER which shifted out. No action was taken. When PRIME DELIGHT was shifted to the outside of REAL SURPRISE, it struck the heels of that horse. For some distance after the 300 Metres, CHAMP DRAGON and GOLD FIELD raced tight. At the 200 Metres, PRIME DELIGHT was shifted to the inside of REAL SURPRISE to continue going forward. C Brown (CHAMP DRAGON) explained prior to the race it was thought GOOD PARTNER which had drawn to his inside would lead and he should obtain a position behind that horse. He said CHAMP DRAGON began fairly and almost immediately did not feel comfortable in its action. He said because of this he endeavoured to balance CHAMP DRAGON which allowed SING FAY FAY to cross in front of him. He said as a consequence he travelled slightly further back than was instructed. He said at not stage of the race did CHAMP DRAGON stride out properly and he prior to the post looked down as he was concerned the horse might have been sore in its right front leg. REAL SURPRISE was sent for a clinical veterinary inspection and sampling. FORTUNE WARRIOR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of REAL SURPRISE and FORTUNE WARRIOR after the race did not show any significant findings. DON FELIPE and LUCKY PORT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported PRIME DELIGHT had lost its right hind plate.
