Racing Incident Report
ART TRADER was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between HELENE PILLAGING and HIGH INTELLIGENT which shifted out. BOWMAN'S CROSSING began awkwardly. FIVE GRAINS and JOYFUL WINNER were slow to begin. Near the 1400 Metres, LIGHTNING STAR became badly unbalanced when crowded for room inside SAMBUCA which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from FOKINE. After the 1200 Metres, HIGH INTELLIGENT, which was being steadied to obtain a position with cover, was shifted to the outside of TIBER which also was being steadied at this time and then improved around the outside of that horse into a forward position. Near the 800 Metres, SAMBUCA and FOKINE raced tight inside HIGH INTELLIGENT. For some distance after the 400 Metres, LIGHTNING STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running, then near the 200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of HIGH INTELLIGENT. From the 300 Metres until the 150 Metres, FOKINE was unable to obtain clear running when racing inside HIGH INTELLIGENT and behind HELENE PILLAGING which when hanging out shifted ground initially outwards and then when being straightened shifted back in. HELENE PILLAGING continued to hang out for the remainder of the race and was difficult to ride. At the 250 Metres, S Dye (JOYFUL WINNER) momentarily dropped his right rein. Approaching the 200 Metres, BEING FAMOUS was held up and unable to improve when racing behind TIBER and inside THE DUKE. SAMBUCA and FIVE GRAINS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SAMBUCA and FIVE GRAINS after the race did not show any significant findings. JOYFUL WINNER and ART TRADER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported GEM OF INDIA had lost its left front plate.
