Racing Incident Report
PLEASANT JOURNEY was slow to begin. FLUVIUS CAMILLUS was slow to begin, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SUPER SPECIAL. At the 900 Metres, MURCIELAGO was checked to avoid the heels of SUPER SPECIAL which after crossing to race outside TIMBER CITY was steadied. Both PLEASANT JOURNEY and MILLENNIUM SUPREME, which were following MURCIELAGO, were checked in consequence. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, DONGGUAN VICTORY was crowded for room inside TOURELLE LAD which at this stage was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPER SPECIAL. After this, SUPER SPECIAL was shifted wider on the track. In the middle stages, PLEASANT JOURNEY proved difficult to settle. Making the Home Turn, TOURELLE LAD was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPER SPECIAL. For some distance after straightening, MILLENNIUM SUPREME was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOURELLE LAD. FREE WAY, which was following MILLENNIUM SUPREME, was steadied away from the heels of that runner. Near the 200 Metres, WAVY PEAK became unbalanced when endeavouring to improve between ALL FIT which was giving ground and PLEASURE PLEASURE. After the 200 Metres, BE MY BRIDE was inclined to shift out. Because of this, O Doleuze, its rider, changed the whip into his left hand. BE MY BRIDE then over the concluding stages shifted in. Throughout the race, PLEASURE PLEASURE travelled wide and without cover. C Soumillon (PRO JOY), dead-heat 6th placegetter, was reminded of his responsibilities to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the winning post where circumstances permit. MURCIELAGO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MURCIELAGO after the race did not show any significant findings. PRO JOY, DONGGUAN VICTORY and BE MY BRIDE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported TOURELLE LAD had bled from both nostrils and ALL FIT had lost its left front plate.
