Racing Incident Report
PACIFIC ALLIANCE and BEST CHOICE were slow to begin. RICH FOR ALL and ESPOIR D'OR began awkwardly and bumped. GOLD DIGGER began a little awkwardly, then when being ridden along to go forward got its head on the side, shifted in and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHOW BRAVELY. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, ESPOIR D'OR, which was racing ungenerously, was steadied away from the heels of OH GREAT. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, MAGIC TEMPLE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside SHOW BRAVELY which got its head on the side and shifted in away from SEA TREASURE. In the early stages, BEST CHOICE proved difficult to settle. G Schofield (SHOW BRAVELY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that prior to the 1200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift to the inside of SEA TREASURE when not clear of MAGIC TEMPLE, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. G Schofield was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 23 March 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 15 March 2006. In addition, G Schofield was fined $35,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE became unbalanced when close to the heels of MADE IN HONGKONG. On straightening, TEMMOKU was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEST CHOICE. At the 250 Metres, PACIFIC ALLIANCE was steadied when disappointed for running between RICH FOR ALL and WADADELIGHT which at this time shifted to the outside of GOLD DIGGER to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, BEST CHOICE hung in. Throughout the race, RICH FOR ALL travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, F Coetzee (SEA TREASURE) said his mount does not usually travel well during the run and today seemed to travel more flat than is usual. He said after entering the Back Straight when RICH FOR ALL went forward of him, he endeavoured to shift out to follow that horse forward, however, as he did this MADE IN HONGKONG improved around his outside and held a three wide position, causing SEA TREASURE to be carried back in and steadied away from the heels of TEMMOKU which at this time lost some ground. He said after this SEA TREASURE appeared to lose its momentum and at no stage travelled for him and consequently was most disappointing. SEA TREASURE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of SEA TREASURE after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SEA TREASURE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SEA TREASURE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WADADELIGHT and MAGIC TEMPLE were sent for sampling.
