Racing Incident Report

O Doleuze, the rider of NOBLE BOSS, was re-weighed after the girth with which he initially weighed out was not able to be fitted securely to the saddle on the horse. No action was taken. MONZA KING was slow to begin and then began awkwardly. NOBLE BOSS began awkwardly. At the 2000 Metres, NOBLE BOSS was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHALLENGER. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHALLENGER was steadied away from the heels of SNIPER which shifted out and bumped BROWN BEAUTY. Making the first turn, CHALLENGER, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out, causing inconvenience to SUNDAY DELIGHT which was carried wider. Also making the first turn, PACIFIC ALLIANCE was carried out by BROWN BEAUTY which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUNDAY DELIGHT. After this, PACIFIC ALLIANCE strode forward and crossed to the lead. At the 1400 Metres, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS (S K Sit) shifted in, made heavy contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. DURABLE, which was following, was steadied and shifted out, causing CHALLENGER to be carried wider. S K Sit explained after allowing FORTUNE GOLD to cross near the 1400 Metres, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS was not comfortable racing inside other horses and making the turn at the 800 Metres would not hold its position and gave ground. The performance of CHEERFUL HAPPINESS, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Prior to straightening, DURABLE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of FORTUNE GOLD which at this time was carried in by ELEPHANT DANCE. On straightening, POSA was disappointed for running when endeavouring to shift to the outside of SPECIFIC SORCEROR while racing tight inside BROWN BEAUTY. After the 400 Metres, POSA was steadied away from the heels of SNIPER. Approaching the 300 Metres, DURABLE had difficulty obtaining clear running outside CHALLENGER and inside SNIPER. In the Straight, BROWN BEAUTY hung in. At the 250 Metres, SNIPER, which was hanging out and racing tight outside DURABLE, was checked to avoid the heels of SPECIFIC SORCEROR (Y T Cheng) which shifted in slightly when not properly clear. Y T Cheng was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise greater care. After the 200 Metres, POSA was crowded for room between BROWN BEAUTY which was continuing to hang in and SNIPER which got its head on the side and shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, D Dunn (DEFLECT) dropped his whip. FORTUNE GOLD and CHEERFUL HAPPINESS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE GOLD and CHEERFUL HAPPINESS after the race did not show any significant findings. DURABLE, ELEPHANT DANCE and SPECIFIC SORCEROR were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported BROWN BEAUTY had bled from both nostrils.
