Racing Incident Report
SPARKLING STAR was withdrawn on 22.4.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MILITARY OPTION (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLING STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LIFELINE RAPIDE began awkwardly and got its head up. POCKET MONEY was slow to begin and was then steadied away from the heels of LE ROSSIGNOL which shifted out. MILITARY OPTION, which was standing with its head turned to the right, was slow to begin. CLASSABOVE, which was standing with its head down in the stalls, was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between GUNG HO and KINGSTON MARBLE which shifted in. Passing the 1200 Metres, GLOBAL WAY, which was proving difficult to settle, became unbalanced when being steadied while awkwardly placed inside the heels of PROGRESSING TIMES (Y T Cheung) which was carried in slightly by ELEGANT KING PRAWN. After this, GLOBAL WAY continued to prove difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PROGRESSING TIMES and near the 1000 Metres clipped the heels of that runner which shifted in slightly. Whilst the Stewards accepted the manner in which GLOBAL WAY was racing was a major contribution to this incident, they nonetheless advised Y T Cheng to exercise care. At the 700 Metres, ELEGANT KING PRAWN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of KINGSTON MARBLE. LE ROSSIGNOL made the Home Turn awkwardly and shifted away from the rail. Approaching the 200 Metres, ELEGANT KING PRAWN and GUNG HO, which were hanging in, had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 200 Metres, PROGRESSING TIMES, which was closing the race off, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of KINGSTON WINNER. Throughout the race, CIRCUIT KINGDOM travelled wide and without cover. The performance of CLASSABOVE, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CLASSABOVE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G Mossé (CIRCUIT KINGDOM) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. CIRCUIT KINGDOM was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT KINGDOM after the race did not show any significant findings. POCKET MONEY and LIFELINE RAPIDE were sent for sampling.
