Racing Incident Report
WILLIE DETROY was withdrawn on 12.5.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SILVER SUN. ALL'S WELL was also withdrawn on 12.5.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (respiratory disease). Before being allowed to race again, WILLIE DETROY and ALL'S WELL will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the start was effected, HELLO PRETTY got its head up and as a consequence was slow to begin. ORIENTAL MAGIC began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 1400 Metres, HELLO PRETTY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHEEKY while racing tight inside FRUITY FRUITY. At the 1400 Metres, SILVER SUN was steadied away from the heels of BEING FAMOUS which shifted in when not properly clear. At the 1100 Metres, HELLO PRETTY was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WEALTHY which got its head on the side and shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SAMBUCA. For some distance after this, HELLO PRETTY continued to race tight inside WEALTHY. On straightening, HELLO PRETTY was steadied when disappointed for running between WEALTHY and CHEEKY. From the 400 Metres until the 200 Metres, MY CHOICE was held up and unable to improve when racing behind BUMPER BUMPER and inside HAPPEE OWNER. Near the 200 Metres, HELLO PRETTY, which was closing the race off, was shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running and was steadied away from the heels of BEING FAMOUS. After the 100 Metres, MY CHOICE and SAMBUCA brushed. W C Marwing (SAMBUCA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CHEEKY, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. In the circumstances of this case, W C Marwing was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 29 May 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of this suspension shall take place on Monday 22 May 2006 on which day he was eligible to resume race riding after completing a previously imposed suspension. In addition, W C Marwing was fined $80,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. GEM OF INDIA and ORIENTAL MAGIC were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GEM OF INDIA and ORIENTAL MAGIC after the race did not show any significant findings. HELLO PRETTY, BUMPER BUMPER and MY CHOICE were sent for sampling.
