Racing Incident Report

GLOBAL WAY was withdrawn on 27.5.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left fore bruised tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MACAROON. Before being allowed to race again, GLOBAL WAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MACAROON and EGYPTIAN RA were slow to begin. GLOBAL WIN began awkwardly and bounded in the air. At the 1000 Metres, OCEAN TRANQUIL was steadied when awkwardly placed between SUPER MUSIC and MULTI-WIN SPIRIT which at this time was carried in slightly by GIGA SPIRITS which got its head on the side and shifted away from WINE WIN. Near the 900 Metres, MULTI-WIN SPIRIT was checked to avoid the heels of GIGA SPIRITS which after initially shifting in away from WINE WIN (W M Lai) of its own accord was then carried in further by that horse. In the circumstances, W M Lai was told to exercise greater care. When MULTI-WIN SPIRIT checked, inconvenience was caused to OCEAN TRANQUIL which was bumped and SATIRIZE which was following. After the race, Apprentice C K Tong (MULTI-WIN SPIRIT) reported when he checked his mount near the 900 Metres, his saddle shifted back. Near the 800 Metres, SATIRIZE was checked to avoid the heels of MULTI-WIN SPIRIT, then shifted out when not clear of FLAME POWER which was also checked. No action was taken. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, EGYPTIAN RA hung in and was steadied away from the heels of FLAME POWER. At the 800 Metres, GLOBAL WIN, which was racing ungenerously and hanging out, was checked to avoid the heels of SATIRIZE. EGYPTIAN RA, which was to the outside of GLOBAL WIN, was inconvenienced in consequence. At the 400 Metres, EGYPTIAN RA, which was commencing to close the race off, was checked away from the heels of MULTI-WIN SPIRIT. After the 200 Metres, SUPER MUSIC got its head on the side, shifted in and raced tight outside WINE WIN. Also after the 200 Metres, LUCKY STRAVINSKY hung in. When questioned, D Whyte (KINGSTON MARBLE) said he had been instructed from the outside barrier to have the horse in a forward position if possible, however, to avoid being caught unnecessarily wide. He said KINGSTON MARBLE began on terms, however, LUCKY STRAVINSKY and WINE WIN which were drawn to his inside were immediately ridden along to go forward, he therefore elected to come back behind those runners in an attempt to obtain a position with cover. He said as a result he followed BRILLIANT ONE and was initially able to have cover, however, after the 800 Metres was then left racing without cover. He said KINGSTON MARBLE finished the race off fairly. He added to have persevered going forward in the early stages would have resulted in him racing wide and without cover and he believed in the circumstances despite travelling further back than intended KINGSTON MARBLE was better suited. SATIRIZE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SATIRIZE after the race did not show any significant findings. GIGA SPIRITS, OCEAN TRANQUIL and SUPER MUSIC were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported GIGA SPIRITS had lost its right front plate.
