Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, OWNERS LAD was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the request of E Saint-Martin, its rider. He said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being boxed, HE CAN TANGO became fractious and dislodged O Doleuze, its rider. Before being allowed to race again, HE CAN TANGO will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. OWNERS LAD was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when crowded for room between ABLE STANDARD and TERRAFERMA which on jumping knuckled and then was bumped by LUMINOUS. In the early stages, POCKET MONEY and PRIME SCORE, which had drawn the outside barriers, were taken across behind runners. In the early and middle stages, when racing without cover, LUCKY DRAGON proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. After the 200 Metres, OWNERS LAD and POCKET MONEY were checked when crowded for room inside CHATER SILK which initially got its head on the side and shifted in away from PACKING HERO and then was carried in further by that horse. In the circumstances, no action was taken. For some distance after the 100 Metres, CHATER SILK had difficulty obtaining clear running between PACKING HERO and LE ROSSIGNOL. RICH DRAGON was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RICH DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. TERRAFERMA, PACKING HERO and LE ROSSIGNOL were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted OWNERS LAD had lost its right front plate.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 31 October 2006)
RICH DRAGON, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. RICH DRAGON was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C Fownes yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being permitted to race again, RICH DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
