Racing Incident Report
MILLION SUCCESS stood flat-footed at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. AMSTERDAM was slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, AMSTERDAM was steadied away from the heels of SPEEDING MOLLY (M W Leung) which shifted in when not quite clear. M W Leung was reprimanded and advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. Passing the 1300 Metres, AMSTERDAM became unbalanced when racing tight behind SPEEDING MOLLY and inside MATIRI KING which shifted in slightly. When MATIRI KING shifted out to relieve the pressure to AMSTERDAM, it bumped with SOCRATES which became unbalanced. Shortly after entering the Straight, SPEEDING MOLLY was steadied when disappointed for running between HEALTHY WEALTHY and DON RICARDO. Close to the line, DON RICARDO and MATIRI KING were crowded for room between EYE WITNESS and AMSTERDAM, both of which shifted ground. Throughout the race, MEATH travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. D Nikolic (HEALTHY WEALTHY) was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out right to the line where circumstances permit. When questioned regarding the performance of NASA PEARL, O Doleuze stated the horse did not travel well in tonight's race and in his opinion whilst the horse had performed reasonably at Happy Valley was better suited to racing at Sha Tin. The Stewards will afford Trainer C Fownes, who was not present tonight due to illness, the opportunity of explaining the improved performance of SOCRATES as compared to its last run. NASA PEARL and MEATH were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NASA PEARL and MEATH after the race did not show any significant findings. SOCRATES and EYE WITNESS were sent for sampling.
