Racing Incident Report

FUNTRAP was withdrawn on 18.12.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left front cannon laceration) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HAPPY SUNDAY. Before being allowed to race again, FUNTRAP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RED STORM RISING began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped FAST TRACK. As a consequence, both horses lost ground. On jumping, HAPPY SUNDAY stumbled. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, TIGER PRAWN and PROFIT HILL were steadied when tightened for room inside HAPPY SUNDAY which shifted in when barely clear. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, BEAUTY PLUS was steadied away from the heels of TIGER PRAWN. Some inconvenience was caused to DR POSSI and ACTIVE VALOUR which were following. Prior to straightening, ACTIVE VALOUR bumped the running rail and became unbalanced. In the early part of the Straight, MY PRIDE hung in. Over the final 200 Metres, ACTIVE VALOUR hung out. Throughout the race, MODESTY travelled wide and without cover and shortly after straightening gave ground quickly and finished tailed out. MODESTY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MODESTY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. As this was the second occasion on which MODESTY had suffered an episode of an irregular heart beat, the horse will now be compulsorily retired. TIGER PRAWN and HAPPY SUNDAY were sent for sampling.
